  1. Step 1

    Open Notion AI on any page

    Go to any page in your workspace, click on an empty line, and press the spacebar to open the Edit with AI box. Or highlight existing text and pick Edit with AI from the toolbar that appears. There's also a Notion AI button in the bottom-right corner of the page.

  2. Step 2

    Pick a prompt or write your own

    Type an instruction in the Edit with AI box, such as 'turn these notes into a project brief,' and press Enter. For selected text, the toolbar also offers ready-made skills like Improve writing, Proofread, and Explain.

  3. Step 3

    Review and edit the generated content

    Notion AI drops its response directly into the page as highlighted text, with a one-line summary of what it changed. Read through the output, then click Accept (✓) to keep it or Undo to discard it. To refine it, select the text and use Edit with AI again with a request like 'make it shorter' or 'add more detail'.

    Ask questions with AI Q&A search

    Click Search or ask at the top of the sidebar (⌘K on Mac). Type a question about anything in your workspace — like 'what did we decide about the launch date' — and Notion AI answers from your pages instead of just listing search results.

    Use AI inside databases and tables

    Open a database or a table you've built, click AI Autofill (the sparkle icon) in the database toolbar, and choose New AI Autofill. Notion fills properties automatically using context from your workspace and the web. This is useful for tagging tasks, summarizing meeting logs, or classifying feedback without manual entry.

    Apply AI when creating new pages

    When you start a new page, click Ask AI under Get started with instead of starting blank. Describe what you want — a meeting agenda, project plan, or blog outline — and Notion AI drafts it for you to edit.

    Select the text you want to change, then pick a skill such as Improve writing or Proofread, or choose Edit with AI and ask for a different tone (more casual, more formal) or length. You can fine-tune the output without rewriting it from scratch.
